Liturgical Year 2016-2017
2017 was a year with no real theme (outside of a loose idea of having things in groups of 3), but, as always, there was some experimenting. It started right away at Advent with a new location for the Advent Wreath and trying the starry night in the back of the church and not in the sanctuary. Gave me a chance to drape some white banners into the body of the church and simulate the Christmas star shining down on everyone, not just at the baby Jesus. Christmas was a last minute overhaul (as in I redid the whole flower and banner design about 24 hours before it went up, yikes!). Then I loved it so much I kept it up for OT Winter. The side banners for Lent and Palm Sunday worked really well. In fact, the lent banners were originally for Advent (only in blue and pink) but then I went a different direction, but loved the banners so much I just moved them back to Lent. I thought the simplicity of the candles and flowers on Holy Thursday worked really well, and got more positive comments from parishioners than I think most any other element this year. Easter worked well, using a different mix of colors that I ever had before. Pentecost and OT Summer-Fall didn't wow me as much, though I liked the fall plant arrangements.
