Liturgical Year 2021-2022
The theme for this year was to take the liturgical year, and split it into three parts (Advent to OT Winter, Lent to Pentecost, Trinity Sunday to Christ the King). Then to do one design for each of those three parts. Then, within that design, create sub-designs for each of the seasons/feasts. It all around worked really well. It added a nice cohesiveness to the year. The only downside was the burnout from trying to maintain these self imposed restrictions I placed on my designs, both here at St Rose, and over at St Pats. The star at Christmas turned out amazing! I also loved the tree element in the Lent-Pentecost designs. It was a nice repurposing of the winter tree banners. The leaves and flowers on the Easter banner were all made by students in the school and faith formation programs, with the flowers made by those who received sacraments that year. It was a subtle, but really cool design move I had been sitting on for a number of years. The other move I made I was proud of was the pots in the Lent-Easter designs. I especially loved the image it gave when they were empty on Good Friday. I rarely leave any decorating elements out on Good Friday, or obvious reasons, but this rare exception was powerful and well worth it.
