Liturgical Year 2020-2021
The working theme for this year is to play off the circle around the Altar. It originated as turning the entire sanctuary into an Advent wreath. There was thought of going all out all year (think crown of thorns encircling the sanctuary the same way), but that was too ambitious. Also, I think Fr Marc was feeling claustrophobic at Christmas... That said, I LOVED the wreath at Advent and Christmas. It worked even better when I separated the red and white poinsettias to call the wreath out more. In fact, I liked the color separation so much, I did it again at Easter, though that didn't work as well, as Easter Lilies don't live as long as poinsettias. In leu of encircling the whole sanctuary all year, I instead just played the design off different sections of that circle the remainder of the year. The light green and light blue at OT Winter worked really well. I was also a big fan of the 6 palms encircling the sanctuary on Palm Sunday. I can see how that would have worked really well with that original crown of thorns idea. I liked Easter a lot, other than grouping the colors of flowers as I noted before. It looked really good on Easter Sunday, not so much week 6. Pentecost was an odd feast cause there was a wedding that Saturday, so the red had to be very limited and thrown up between the wedding and the Saturday Mass. The last thing was Christ the King. I mixed the gold and purple with the white and it worked really well together!
