Liturgical Year 2018-2019
This was a odd year for me at St Rose. This was the first year where I was tasked with the leadership role at the parish. Early on Azela (whom I took over for) was still around and we were creating the designs together. However by Lent she was unfortunately largely unable to help. My goal was to make it though the year without offending too many people. I know being the new guy and wanting to do things differently could go over badly. On top of that I was still felling out what could and could not be done, both physically and with long standing parish tradition.
Advent through OT Winter was the joint designs. The focus on these was to finally use the tree banners all though the season, which Fr Fitz had not allowed them to do in the past. Lent, I was in full design control and tired to start steering away from the banners covering the whole of the back wall. I then wanted some of the themes from Lent to carry over into Easter (aka the Altar design and the draping back banner). Ordinary Time was trying a banner on just one side along with keeping some of the green plants in the sanctuary to add some life and color. It was a learning experience for me and for sure some new challenges.
