Liturgical Year 2014-2015
This year's theme was to carry an element over from every season into the next. Not necessarily the same element all year, but something that aesthetically connected every season. Typically I often connect Advent-Christmas-OT Winter and then Lent-Holy Week-Easter-Pentecost. This was about bridging the gap between OT Winter and Lent, then Pentecost and OT Summer. I thought it worked well, though still prefer my usual divide.
Christmas I went with a pale blue as the accent color and loved it! It was very subtle (also something I used adding purple and pink to the Advent banners) but it worked really well. Also, cause I love trying out of the box ideas, I decided to do a Christmas with no Christmas trees. Ghasp! I know! But it worked well enough. I used Birch branches an vases of boughs to add the lights and greenery to the design. Then loaded up with all white poinsettias.
Few things about the rest of the year that jumped out as working well. The Altar with the narrow purple cloth and silver crosses, winner! I liked the Pentecost banners with the dove descending better than their original Easter look. The original OT Summer banners I liked, but Fall... when will I learn that kelly green and mustard yellow don't work well together....
